The Official Selections For The NYC Web Fest 2018 Has Been Announced

May 2024 · 5 minute read

The fifth annual NYC Web Fest (NYCWF) is just months away, and today they announced their official selections. 85 digital series and short films from around the world, have been chosen. The NYCWF is set to take place on November 8-10, 2018 in Manhattan. Alongside this announcement, they also revealed that Endavo Media will serve as a supporting sponsor and Donna Drake from their Footprint TV channel will cover the red carpet interviews.

“We’re excited to debut our VDA platform at NYC Web Fest. Along with our own FOOTPRINT Network, we want to change the game in favor of creators, by providing the tools, expertise and business models that will drive the next generation of creator development, discoverability and distribution. NYC Web Fest famously supports the creative community and we are glad to be a part of this paradigm shift in media and entertainment,” says CEO Paul D Hamm.

This year, the NYC Web Fest gained their highest number of submissions; they believe the reason behind this was that they accepted short films and pilot episodes for the first time. “Our new programming department worked tirelessly, I’m so grateful for Lindsay & Andreea. The selections this year are a mix of projects by novice filmmakers & veteran talent you’ve seen on stage and screen,” says Founder Lauren Atkins. “As NYCWF continues to grow, we receive more international attention, once again a third of the submissions were from outside of the United States.”

The NYCWF is getting bigger and bigger year-on-year; just last year we saw the NYC Web Fest move to a new venue that could accommodate double the capacity than the previous year; and saw guests fly in from Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, and South Africa. The venue is planned to be announced in the coming days; just two months ago, however, we announced the jury line up.
